Cabello emphasized Venezuela’s claim to the territory west of the Esequibo River, highlighting the high participation of citizens, especially young people, in a democratic event.

He also criticized the reaction of the government of Guyana, attributing it to frustration, and reaffirmed the irreversible nature of the Bolivarian Revolution, assuring that nothing will disturb the satisfaction for the democratic day.

On the other hand, Cabello responded to threats from Guyana’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Robeson Benn, who warned with imprisonment those participating in the election of the governor of Esequibo promoted by Venezuela. Cabello said that Benn “looked like a fool” after the high participation in the territory of Guayana Esequiba.

Cabello also referred to the fact that this day of participatory and leading democracy can not be put into practice by the Venezuelan opposition, calling for “a space like this in the opposition that they consult their people to know who is going to be their candidate, do not do it if they can’t even define their domes.”

According to the general secretary of the PSUV, a total of 131,902 names were nominated in the approximately 47,000 community assemblies held on Saturday, with an overall participation estimated at more than five million people.
